2005 - 2006

Increasing Vocational Learning Opportunities for Indigenous Youth in Juvenile Detention: Youth Education Centre at Magill Training Centre, Department of Education and Children's Services. In partnership with Sharon Gollan, Natalie Harkin and Tangi Steen of The Unaipon School, UniSA, review relevant literature, train relevant staff in juvenile detention centres in undertaking research, support the research activities, analyse and report all outcomes about the educational experiences of young Aboriginal people in juvenile detention centres and write a report identifying directions for future action and research on this topic.



2004 - 2005

Indigenous Health Research Scoping Study: Aboriginal Health Council of SA. Lead on this project and mentor an Indigenous research assistant. The project will determine the issues related to Indigenous health research, identify research capability in South Australia, and establish clear priority areas for making informed policy, research and funding decisions to better support, target and coordinate Indigenous health research.



2004 - 2005

Schools, VET and partnerships: Capacity building in rural and regional areas: NCVER - National Centre for Vocational Education Research. In partnership with the Australian Youth Research Centre to research the real life application of social capital concepts in school-VET partnerships that demonstrate success in building social and economic capital in rural and regional communities.

Management in Indigenous Contexts Research: University of South Australia. In partnership with Sharen Gollan review relevant literature, researching the experience ofAboriginal managers in dealing wwith conflict while managing Aboriginal teams or units in health, human and community services and write a project report that identifies directions for future research on this topic.

Black-white Teaching Partnership Research: University of South Australia. In partnership with Sharon Gollan, review relevant literature, researching the impact of black-white teaching partnerships in strengthening the understanding of social work of social work students about working in Indigenous concepts in health, human and community services, and write a report identifying directions for future teaching practices and research.

School Retention Reference: Social Inclusion Unit, Department of Premier and Cabinet. Research examples of good practice relevant to the reference in order to develop resource material for the Unit's work in general, and contribute to a State Action Plan.

Young Visions - VET and Enterprise Education: Enterprise Careers Education Foundation. In partership with the Australian Youth Research Centre, University of Melbourne to undertake a study on the perceptions of young people in regard to VET, structured workplace learning (SWL) and enterprise education.

Young people talk about youth development project: Ausyouth. Conduct in-depth interviews with young people across Australia regarding the impact of youth development programs on their lives, and develop them into a series of mini-life history narratives documented in a nationally available publication and contextualised within youth development principles and good practice. Youth Development Programs - A Longitudinal Study of Participants: Commonwealth Department of Education, Training and Youth Affairs/ Department of Family and Community Services. In partnership with the Australian Youth Research Centre, University of Melbourne to investigate the impact and outcomes of youth development programs over a 3-year period, and provide guidance of future program development and policy implications.
