Dr Murray Lake has been involved in education for more than 30 years as a teacher and, since 1971, a teacher educator. He completed his PhD in rural and remote education and has maintained this as his main academic and research interest.
He has extensive experience as an independent consultant to state, national and international governments on rural and remote education. As an AAYRC Research Associate since 2000, he has collaborated on several national projects in education, transition pathways for young people and youth development.
Dr Lake is Chair of the Western Australian Rural and Remote Education Advisory Council (RREAC) and Deputy Chair of the National Rural Education Forum of Australia (REFA).
Since 2001 Dr Lake has collaborated directly with beyond…, as well as through their
association with the AYRC, on several research and evaluation projects focused on youth
development, youth transitions, vocational education and training in schools, and
